Okay, so I had to go to work this morning for about 6 hours, but after that, I did this little ride nearby:
The bike ran great. The weather was great. Traffic was low. Mile for mile, at 74.4mi according to Google Maps, it’s one of the best little rides around. All 2-lane, about 30 miles of state highway and the rest rural. Some straights, some twisties, a lake, mountains, hell, even a dam crossing.
I’ve been lamenting lately what a clusterfuck this riding season has been. But I’m just feeling sorry for myself. Since I bought my bike in March, 2002, I’ve averaged 6000 miles a year. I know guys with 10-year-old Harleys that don’t have 6000 miles total. It’s been a point of pride, actually. But this year is screwed. I’ll be lucky if I do 2000 miles this year. And I’ve been moping about it. It just seems to pile on to a screwed up year with my infection and hospital stay, my earlier bike troubles, my shortened vacation, my buddy crashing, my grandmother dying, etc. etc. etc.
Well enough of that shit. Time to kick myself in the ass, build a bridge and get over it.
